Before Christmas Cleaning Checklist

November 30, 2020

If a house is not clean around Christmas, it is just not perfect and everything must be ideal for the most special time of the year. The holidays are a wonderful but stressful period for many of us, however this year we prepared a cleaning checklist for you to go through before Christmas.

There is magic in the air and we all just want to snuggle under the blanket with a cup of hot chocolate and watch one of our beloved Christmas movies.

Take a few things off your plate with these Christmas cleaning tips to get your house ready for the holidays.

From getting enough food to feed your family and friends to keep up with appointments and deadlines on time, to remembering to wash the bedsheets for the guests, preparing your apartment for Christmas isn’t always a relaxing ordeal.

Here is the Christmas Cleaning Checklist that will help many families prepare their homes for Christmas with time to spare and enjoy some of the traditions associated with those magical holidays.

Cleaning Tips Before Christmas

Here are the best tips and top ways to handle your holiday cleaning this year (and for the many Christmases to come).

Following this step-by-step holiday cleaning checklist, you’ll be able to turn your messy, soiled, dusty, and disorganized house into a clean Christmas fairytale and have time to spare.

Before you start, here is our most important tip for you:

Don’t postpone the cleaning until the 23rd of December or else it’ll be too late and you’ll be wondering how to manage everything on time.

Write down your cleaning plan

Start by preparing your cleaning schedule. For example, clean the kitchen first, followed by the bathroom, and so on. Keep in mind that your guests notice things that you don’t. Move things around to check if there is dust where you don’t see it or dirt underneath small furniture in the house. People often forget to clean the little mirror in the bathroom or just don’t notice the stained kitchen drawers. Keep that in mind and take action before it is too late.

Continue by moving everything away from a particular room. It is much easier to clean free space because you don’t have to work your way around or underneath unnecessary objects. You might also find items where they don’t belong and you need to put them back where they should be.

Time to remove dust

Addressing the surface could be tedious but you will see it is worth it. Not to mention that it is much healthier to live in a dust-free house.

So clean every single flat surface.

Since you moved the objects that don’t belong there, you shouldn’t have much clutter to work with.

Remove dust from your TV, computer, tables, drawers, etc.

Carpet Cleaning

Carpets are one of the areas in the house that people often disregard. Cleaning your carpet with your vacuum cleaner is not enough to thoroughly get rid of all the germs that live inside of it. As a professional carpet cleaning company, we recommend deep clean carpets at least 2 times a year.

This wonderful item transforms a house from a cold room to a cozy place but they are often exposed to a lot of foot traffic. Additionally, they take on the most damage from the residents of the house such as spills and stains.

So this year, let’s clean our carpets and get them ready for Christmas. Every carpet is different, so you need to make sure you know how to clean different carpet fabrics.

Vacuuming and mopping

Okay, it is time to do the oldy but goldy – vacuuming. Grab your vacuum cleaner and clean every room. Remember to use an upholstery attachment when you clean your couch or sofa with the vacuum cleaner. Remember the different fabrics – check out our article on suede sofa cleaning if you have suede upholstery in your house. Keep in mind that couches and sofa assemble a great amount of dust, dirt, and debris.

Then fill your cleaning bucket with water and detergent that is suitable for the surface you are cleaning, whether it is tile or parquet. After that, you just need to mop the floors of the house.  Have some fun with it! Play a little music whilst doing this. Maybe a Christmas carol will be appropriate. Let’s bring the Santa spirit into our homes.

Before you start cleaning move everything away from a particular room. It is much easier to clean free space because you don’t have to work your way around or underneath unnecessary objects.

You might also find items where they don’t belong and you need to put them back where they should be.

Final tips from the Christmas Cleaning Checklist

  1. Take out the garbage
  2. Wash the sheets of the guest bedroom
  3. Sanitize your bathroom
  4. Organize your home
  5. Start decorating

You are finished with your Christmas cleaning! Bravo! All that is left to do is to prepare your Christmas dinner menu and spend some more time with your family. We are super proud of you and now we just want to wish you Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Should you decide to skip the Christmas cleaning this year and contact a professional cleaning company, give us a call right away. We are available 24/7 and the teams of experts from Clean Experts will not leave you disappointed. Happy Holidays!

Lastly, if you need some guidance for After Christmas, stay tuned it will be up and running on our blog pretty soon.

Choosing the right cleaning company to sanitize your office or commercial property can be a bit of a challenge due to the variety of choices in the industry. А high ranking cleaning company doesn’t necessarily guarantee top-quality services. Maintaining a clean and fresh work environment is essential for the health of your employees. Additionally, it is vital to the reputation of the company and the brand image. So when it comes to commercial cleaning, make the smart decision, and don’t rush it as you may end up disappointed. Most businesses hire cleaning companies for a variety of services but predominantly for commercial carpet cleaning, window cleaning, antiviral sanitization, or general sanitation of the office premises. That is why we are going to focus on those services in this article and we will give you our top 10 tips for choosing a professional cleaning company for your business.

Before we continue we need to answer the question – Why is it important to regularly clean your office.

Why Clean your Office Regularly?

There are several reasons to at least try and maintain a cleaner environment but the most important one is the health of your employees. Dirt and bacteria-free office mean fewer sick-leaves, less absent people, and fewer expenses for your business. This will also help you maintain a good job satisfaction rate among your workers and therefore keep the retention stats at bay.

Best 10 Tips to bear in mind when choosing Office Cleaning Services.

 1. Choose Local Cleaners- For example, If you live in London, it just makes sense to go with a professional cleaning company near you. This means there should not be any trouble with punctuality or travel, and they will bе available if you need them urgently. Supporting businesses in your local area are quite rewarding as well.

2. Certified Cleaning Technicians – Make sure that the professionals who will take care of your carpet, windows, chairs are NCCA certified technicians. NCCA accreditation is the leading standard for certification programs. It enhances trust in the certification to ensure the cleaners are currently competent and have acquired the proper knowledge to do their job in their field like a pro.

3. Check Years of Experience of The Cleaning Company – Many years of experience in a particular field says a lot about a company’s history, knowledge, and status. If a cleaning company can keep up with the business demands for years, the team is probably excellent and knows how to handle different cleaning problems. Over time all companies build a reputation, so the more experience a company has the better.

4. Go Green- Choose a cleaning company that uses eco-friendly products. Always ask if the detergents are hypoallergenic as well because you never know who amongst your employees has allergies to heavy chemicals. Show that you care about your workers, their health, and your business.

5. Look through the reviews- Check the reviews that people have posted recently. If someone posted a review from 7 years ago that is not relevant. Check if the company has various review platforms. For instance, here at Clean Expert, we have many different channels for reviews like Trustpilot, CheckATrade, Google, and the reviews on our website.

Always ask if the detergents a cleaning company is using are hypoallergenic because you never know who amongst your employees has allergies to heavy chemicals. Show that you care about your workers, their health, and your business.

6. Carefully Read Your Contract – THIS IS AN IMPORTANT REMARK! Sometimes with similar contracts, there are pitfalls that you can fall into. If you are not sure about a clause in the contract, consult with a lawyer. As a business owner, it is important to understand the clauses in the proposed contract. Make sure that each part of the contract is analyzed properly. Be aware of the contract duration. If you only want to hire a company for 3 months pay attention to this part of the contract as they may have stated that they are offering services for one year or even more.

7. Book the Best Services- There are so many cleaning services that professional cleaners offer such as carpet cleaning, upholstery cleaning, pet stain & odor cleaning, and more. As we discussed, most businesses look for commercial carpet cleaning, window cleaning, or general cleaning of all the office premises. All cleaning companies specialize in different areas even though they offer a variety of solutions. If you are looking to have the carpet in your office cleaned look around for the best carpet cleaning professionals and take a look at the before & after cleaning results. The same thing applies to all other services.

8. Proof of Insurance – Before hiring a commercial cleaner, ensure that the employees are covered with liability for accidents that may happen while workers are cleaning your office. Book a cleaning company that has its insurance as well so that you can be certain that you will not end up in a bad situation if a cleaner gets hurt while performing their duties.

9. Availability Check – You never know when you might need a cleaning company urgently, so if you decide to sign a long-term contract make sure the company can ensure 24/7 Availability.

10. Antiviral Cleaning – If your workers can’t work from home and they still have to come every day to their workplace, consider booking an antiviral cleaning service. In the current circumstances and the complicated, confusing times we live in, it is better to be safe than sorry. Act swiftly to safeguard your employees. Even if all of your employees are currently healthy consider sanitizing your commercial property to avoid accidents in the future or even shutting down workspaces.

Here you have it – the complete checklist for choosing the perfect commercial cleaning company for your business. Trust only the best. If you are currently situated in London, for your convenience, the Clean Exper cleaning team covers all London areas plus 25 miles outside M25 North. Over the years these carpets became the favorite choice of mattings for millions of people all over the world due to the fact the craft of creating them is considered artwork not only in Iran.

Oriental rugs come in a variety of shapes, designs, and forms. They are considered high-quality fabrics which means that they are mostly made from natural materials such as wool, cotton, silk but can also be produced from synthetic materials. Their fabric is essential when it comes to cleaning because you need to treat them differently as they are sensitive to different detergents and cleaning products and vary in this regard.

General Cleaning Tips for Persian Carpets

1. Check the label of your carpet to find out what kind of fabric you are trying to clean.

This will help you make the right decision and give your carpet the proper treatment. By doing this you make sure that the carpet will not be destroyed.

2. Keep your rug away from direct sunlight if possible.

Persian rugs and carpets can be prone to sun damage, so if it’s possible put them somewhere where they are not constantly exposed to direct sunlight. You are mainly doing this to protect the carpet color and keep it fresh as long as possible. We all know that Oriental carpets are not cheap, so it is a good idea to take care of them on time.

3. Before applying any type of detergent or cleaning product – TEST it! Apply a  small amount of the cleaning product on the corner of the rug or matting and slowly and lightly brush.

4. Deposit talcum powder to remove unwanted odors. Talcum powder is gentle to most of the carpet fabrics. It absorbs moisture very well and helps cut down on friction.

How to clean a Cotton Persian Carpet?

Cotton is a durable fabric that can generally tolerate the shaking of being machine washed and dried with no negative effects.

  • Pick it up and shake your rug outside. If you have a particularly heavy rug, try to hang it on a clothesline and beat it with your hands or as funny as it sounds with a rolling pin.
  • Vacuum the carpet from both sides thoroughly.
  • Place the type of rug in the washing machine. Remember the 1st General Cleaning tip we gave you? ALWAYS CHECK THE LABEL. Use cold water and mild or light soap.

Dry clean the carpet if you prefer not to machine-wash it.

Cleaning your carpet is essential. As unusual as it might sound dirty carpet and rugs can hinder airflow in your bedroom or livingroom.

There are potential health issues that can occur if you avoid taking proper care of your carpet. Accumulation of dirt, dist, and bacteria can cause common cold symptoms but what is worse with time this could bring a lung infection.  It might seem like a lot of work considering that you have to buy some products and spend some time on it but it is worth it!

How to clean a Silk Persian Carpet?

  • It is better not to vacuum silk rugs without the help of cleaning experts! Silk is very gentle and so you better sweep away the dust or dirt from it, preferably outside to avoid dust spread in your home. If you are set on using a vacuum cleaner make sure to only use the suction attachment.
  • DIY! Make your homemade cleaning solution by mixing half water and half white wine vinegar in a spray bottle.
  • Spray the cleaning solution all over the carpet evenly.
  • Get your self a clean, dry cloth and wipe away the homemade detergent
  • For oily stains or urine, you have to use an additional cleaning technique. Firstly add a nice amount of baking soda to the stain. Then blend half a cup of 3% hydrogen peroxide with a teaspoon of dish detergent and place the combination in a bottle. Spray over the baking soda area until the baking soda is covered. Use a dry cloth to remove the baking soda. Let dry!

Tip: Silk is a delicate fabric, so consider contacting a professional cleaning company.

Clean Expert is a company with more than 25 years of experience in the industry and a leading expert in the field. We specialize in Carpet and Rug Cleaning and use the best equipment and detergents to make sure that you have your property is spotlessly clean.

How to clean a Wool Persian Carpet?

Before proceeding make sure that you buy a special wool wash detergent!

  • Take it outside and shake, and beat your rug. If you have a particularly heavy rug, try to hang it on a clothesline and beat your hands, a tennis racket, or if you have it a rug beater. Use this time to clean what was underneath the carpet.
  • Vacuum the Wool Persian Carpet. Now, why are you doing both? Wool Persian Carpets are beautiful but are among the fabrics that contain the most dirt.
  • DIY Wool Wash! – It is best to buy this product because it takes a little more time to make it. But here is our recipe that you can make at home

*Recipe for Wool Wash: 1L. pure soap or soap flakes: 1L boiling water, 375 ml of denatured alcohol, 1 tablespoon essential vanilla oil for fragrance

  • Scrub Gently! Sponge on the cleaning solution using gentle pressure with a wash brush.
  • Dip a clean old towel in water and use it to clean the rug or carpet
  • Use talcum powder to dry out.

How to clean a Synthetic Persian Carpet?

Synthetic Persian Carpets require often cleaning because the elimination of visible dirt from the surface does not let you completely get rid of dust. However, they are easier to clean.

  • Start by vacuuming the carpet
  • In a spray bottle add a simple mixture of 2L. of water, 1 tablespoon of soda, and 60ml. of white wine vinegar.
  • Spray the combination on the carpet but try not to waterlog the rug.
  • Soft brush and you will see the colors changing back to normality!
  • Vacuum again and you are ready

There you have it those are the different ways to clean your Persian rug depending on the type of fabric- whether it is silk, wool, cotton, or polyester you can refer to the tips above.
